March is here, and so it begins! As a community, Crossbridge will read through the book of John during the month. How convenient that there are 21 weekdays in March and, yes, amazingly enough, 21 chapters in the book of John! On Monday, March 3rd, grab a Bible, a journal, a cup of coffee (or Chai, if you are a coffee-hater like my wife) and find a quiet place. Take some time reading through the first chapter, praying, and recording in your journal any encouragement, challenge or decisions along the way.
If you don’t have a Bible, or if you didn’t get a journal, Crossbridge is providing both. Pick up one, or both, on Sunday.
Oh, and one more thing, as I post some of my thoughts and journal entries on this blog, I hope you will post some of your experiences in the comment section.
I am excited to see what God does with our community through this experience as we journey through John together.

Better late than never right?! As I have been catching up I realized my journaling is mostly questions, so bear with me.
So I’ve never completely grasped John 1:2 “He was with God in the begining.” WHo was? Jesus? God was with Himself? Or is it a personification of ‘The Word.’ Also why does it say the darkness does not understand it? Why not just say overcome instead of understood if thats what it means? In 1:10 I think its interesting that the world didnt recognize Jesus when He came–I wonder if that means we wouldnt recognize Him at the second coming…at least without some sort of signs from Him. In 1:40-42 Simon Peter’s name is changed to Cephas (Peter) Why was Simon dropped? Why were some of the disciples’ names changed and not others?
John the Baptist: What I think is amazing is that b/c of John’s faith and testimony others believed and followed Jesus. John must have been very respected at least in His own circle. I think we all probably have more power over our friends than we think. I like Jesus’ tone in 1:50, I feel that its very descriptive of His relationship with others–He’s saying “Just you wait!” But you know…in a lighthearted, jovial, friendly way, after all He’s Jesus.
